Where We Work

Malawi is a landlocked country in Southern Africa, bordered by Tanzania, Zambia, and Mozambique. Known for the beauty of Lake Malawi, it is also one of the world’s poorest nations.

We work alongside rural Malawian communities to drive change at the grassroots, supporting locally led initiatives that build resilience, self‑reliance, and lasting impact.

Sri Lanka is an island nation just off the southern tip of India, with a rich history spanning thousands of years. In more recent times, a 30‑year civil war left deep social and economic inequalities.

We work alongside local partners and rural communities to address these challenges , supporting locally led initiatives that build resilience, equity, and sustainable futures.

Our Approach

Most people are familiar with the saying, “teach a person to fish.” But what happens if the river is polluted, or runs dry?

At Empower Projects, we extend this thinking further. Our role is to help communities build the skills, confidence, and organisation they need to respond collectively to a wide range of challenges. This way, they are not only equipped for today, but also resilient in the face of tomorrow’s uncertainties.

We create platforms for rural communities to define their own priorities and vision for change. Together, we co‑design action plans that draw on local strengths and resources, while addressing the challenges communities identify as most pressing.

Our focus is always on long‑term sustainability. Every project is designed so that communities can lead, manage, and sustain outcomes well beyond our involvement - fostering true self‑reliance and pride in what they achieve.
